Mmemme is live, and on Thursday, 29 October, our team took it out of the group chat and into the streets of Aba. We spoke with people in person about the platform and met with hotel and lounge managers to show them how they can come on board and what they stand to gain.
Here’s what we shared, and why it matters for anyone who attends or hosts events in Abia.
Why We Took Mmemme to the Streets
Most people in Abia find out about events the same way. A flyer shows up on someone’s status, a friend forwards a message, or you scroll through a few apps and hope you catch the right post. Often, you hear about a good event after it’s over.
Mmemme was built to fix that. It brings the events happening in Abia into one place, so finding something to do doesn’t depend on who posted and when you happened to look.
A platform can explain itself online, but it’s easier to understand when you see it working. That’s why the team went out in person, to show people the live platform and answer their questions on the spot.
Talking to People in Aba
Our team stopped to speak with people across Aba and showed them Mmemme live on their phones. The aim was simple: let people see what the platform does today, not what it promises to do later.
Here’s what we walked them through:
Finding events: Explore what’s happening, check the details, and save the events you’re interested in.
Booking tickets: Book directly on the platform, pay through Paystack, and get a QR code ticket for entry.
Keeping everything in one place: View your bookings and tickets in your account, and cancel eligible tickets if plans change.
Community: Join groups, meet people who like the same things you do, and read about events, culture and life in Abia on our blog.

What Hotels and Lounges Gain by Listing on Mmemme
Hotels and lounges are where a lot of Abia’s events take place, from birthday parties to hangouts, live music nights, and networking evenings. For Mmemme to work well for attendees, the people who run these venues need to be part of it.
So we sat down with hotel and lounge managers in Aba.
The conversations were different from the research we did before building Mmemme. This time we weren’t asking what the problem was. We were showing the managers the live platform and explaining how they can come in and what they stand to gain.
This is what we shared with the managers:
Wider reach: Many venues fill a night through their own pages and word of mouth, which means the crowd is mostly people who already follow them. On Mmemme, people who are actively looking for something to do in Abia can find your event, even if they’ve never heard of you.
Ticketing built in: Create an event, set up your ticket types, and let people book and pay on the platform. Each ticket has a QR code for entry, so the door runs smoother, and you no longer have to match payment screenshots to a guest list.
Clear numbers: Track your attendees and sales in one place, and message the people who’ve booked if plans change.
Your own organizer profile: Attendees can see who’s behind an event and find your other events, which helps a venue become a name people recognise.
A place for your payouts: Add your payout details on your organizer dashboard so ticket sales go where they should.
Getting started is simple
Apply as an organizer on Mmemme, our team reviews the application (this usually takes less than two days), and once you’re approved, you can start creating events.
For hotel owners
Hotels have a different way in. Instead of only hosting events, you can list your hotel on Mmemme so people discover it on the platform. Many event-goers need a place to stay, and listing your hotel puts it in front of them while they’re planning.

What This Means for Abia
When a hotel or lounge lists its events on Mmemme, it grows its own audience, and it also gives people across Abia more to choose from in one place. Someone looking for a plan on a quiet weekend sees what’s on and picks what fits.
That’s the model we’re building. Attendees find events, organizers fill them, and the scene becomes easier to see and easier to be part of. We’re building it in Abia, for Abia, and we want the people and venues here to shape it.
What’s Next
Meeting people in person is only the start, and Aba is just our first stop. Umuahia, the state capital, is next on our list, and we’ll keep looking for more ways to get Mmemme in front of the people of Abia.
We were also recently mentioned among the rising startups in Abia State in a Facebook and LinkedIn post by Chibuzor Elizabeth Chijioke, Special Assistant to the Governor of Abia State , Alex Otti OFR on Digital Economy. See the post.
We’ll keep showing up in person and online until Mmemme is the first place people check when they want to know what’s happening around them.
